Catherine Hudson has been a speech pathologist for 28 years. She completed her degree in Speech Pathology at the University of Qld.
She worked for Education Qld for 2 years early in her career, and subsequently worked at Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah Hospital and Community Health Centres for 22 years. Since 2013 she has provided consultant (private )speech pathology services to children and adults based at the Tweed Health for Everyone Superclinic in Tweed Heads South. Catherine is very experienced in providing comprehensive diagnostic assessment of communication skills, using a range of standardised tests and informal procedures. She is skilled in consulting with health, education and early intervention providers to ensure a flexible, individualised services for clients with family and client centred approach. She also provides mobile services to homes ,childcare centres, schools and aged care facilities across the Northern NSW and South east Qld areas. She is committed to updating her skills with regular professional development and participates in the Speech Pathology Australia Professional-Self Regulation Program. She believes that providing evidence based assessment and intervention methods are important to optimise client outcomes, and participates in regular workshops and conferences to ensure her professional knowledge is up to date with the latest research. She has extensive experience in working with children and adults with a broad range of range of communication disorders including children with speech and language difficulties such as articulation disorders, language delays ,stuttering and literacy difficulties, adults with speech, language and swallowing difficulties of a neurogenic origin (such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, dementia) and adults with voice disorders. Catherine has completed postgraduate training in the Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” program (for children with language delays), PROMPT Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets(for children with severe motor speech impairment) , Lidcombe Program of Early Stuttering Intervention and the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment program an evidence based program for patients with Parkinsons disease. Catherine is a provider for Better Start for Children with a Disability and Helping Children with Autism Program. She provides services to Veterans affairs (DVA) patients. Catherine is a dedicated experienced speech pathologist whose rapport with individuals and families helps clients reach their full communication potential. |
